Rules & Details
- No dogs in park by Salem City Police Ordinance
- No pets or strollers, please.
- The first 400 runners/walkers enjoy $5 off of a dinner at Mama Maria’s Italian Restaurant.
- Cut-off for race day registration is 7:20 a.m. and is limited to the first 600 runners.
- Race-day packet pick up begins at Longwood Park at 6:30 a.m.
- Both races start near “Easter Seals” at 201 East Main Street.
- Award presentations are in Longwood Park immediately following the races.
Run Supporter, Michael Wardian
Michael Wardian of Arlington, Virginia is off to another exciting year. Already showing his mastery of the long distances, he has taken firsts in two The North Face Endurance Challenges - 50 Miler in Washington, D.C. with a time of 6:45:36 and the 50 Miler in Costa Rica at 6:58:55. He had a pace of 5.44 in The Wlpo San Francisco Marathon to come in third.
June 29 is The North Face Endurance Challenge in Ecuador 50 Mile and July 27-28 Burning River 100 Miler in Cleveland-Akron, Ohio.
In the past years Michael qualified for The Olympic Trials in 2004, 2008 and 2012 and was named IAU Inaugural Athlete of the year in 2011. The World 100K Championships awarded him a silver medal in 2011. He has excelled at the Marathon Des Sables in the Sahara Desert, a 151 mile 6 day Moroccan stage race carrying your own gear.
Always motivated by challenge, Michael Wardian thrives when he thinks he might be in a little over his head. He maintains a strict training schedule running 100 miles a week.
